Stirring at your phone or computer screen for so long is bad
due to the effect of blue light. Blue light is dangerous to your health, eyes
and sleep
Most of us spend a lot of time staring at screens. And that
can be bad for our eyes. Blue light from electronics is linked to problems
like blurry vision, eyestrain, dry eye, macular degeneration, and cataracts.
Some people have sleep issues.
Though, the blue light from sunlight is also important for
the growth and development of eyes and vision in children. Blue light exposure
from screens is small compared to the amount of exposure from the sun. However,
there is concern about long-term effects of screen exposure from digital
devices. This is especially true when it comes to too much screen time and
screens too close to the eyes.
Precautions
- The best way to protect your eyes against visual fatigue
caused by blue light from devices is to take regular breaks. For this we
can use the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes or so try to focus on an object at
least 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds.
- Wear Computer glasses with yellow-tinted lenses
it increases comfort when viewing digital devices for long periods of time.
